Terms and Conditions

Respect the time of your teacher

Individual lessons A polite note to all students, please do not cancel your lesson on the day or 30 minutes before your lesson is about to start and ask for your lesson to be rescheduled. Please respect the time of your teacher. For your lesson to be rescheduled 24 hours’ notice should be provided.

Trial Lesson

A trial lesson is scheduled to demonstrate how lessons are structured and to discuss expectations; it takes 30 minutes. The trial lesson is free, however, a refundable deposit of GBP10.00 will be taken before the lesson and it will be refunded after the lesson. If a student will not attend the scheduled lesson the deposit will not be refunded.

Individual Lessons

Payments

Payments are charged on a rolling monthly basis. If you decide to discontinue your lessons, please give your teacher a month’s notice. Please note that payments for your lessons should be settled four weeks in advance.

Missed lessons

Please note that lessons that are missed because of personal reasons will not be refundable. Your missed lesson might be rescheduled; however, this will only take place if you give your teacher at least 48h notice. This will only take place if your teacher is able to allocate this lesson the week the lesson was originally planned.

Your lesson should be rescheduled for the same week the lesson was originally planned. Students often request lessons to be cancelled and to be rescheduled at a later stage at any point in future. This is problematic as a build-up of lessons from various students appears. If the student requests to reschedule, the lesson should take place the same week provided that the teacher has availability. If the teacher is not able to reschedule the same week the student might lose his/her lesson even if he or she gave 48h notice.

If you reschedule the lesson, however, and cannot attend this appointment, no further appointments will be scheduled for this particular lesson.

Please note that lessons should not be rescheduled for weekends and evenings.

Holidays

a) Teacher – in case of your teacher’s holiday, a notice of two weeks will be given to you. You should have an option to either: obtain a refund for the week your teacher is absent or to double your lesson a week prior to your teacher’s holiday so you don’t have to miss the lesson.

b) Student – in case of your holiday, a notice of two weeks should be given to your teacher so no charge will apply. If you don’t want to miss that lesson you can double the lesson a week before you go on holiday or instead of reading your book you can simply participate in the lesson whilst on holiday.

Polite note: This provision of “doubling the lesson” is not for short-notice cancellations. If you wish to reschedule your lesson, give your teacher 48h notice and reschedule for the same week the lesson was scheduled. No lesson should be carried over to the next week or the week after. This is to prevent a build-up of lessons and to avoid time wasting.

Group Lessons

The group lessons are charged on a rolling monthly basis. If you discontinue your lessons, please give your teacher a month’s notice. The group consists of between 3 and 4 participants.

Payments

Please note that payments for your lessons should be settled four weeks in advance.

Missed lessons

Please note that lessons that are missed because of personal reasons will not be refundable or rescheduled. Even if you know weeks in advance that you will be absent from one of the lessons you are still required to pay for an entire month and the price will not be reduced. This is because there will always be someone who can’t attend the lesson, which means that your teacher will rarely receive a full wage for the lesson.

Teacher’s Cover

On occasion, your teacher may be absent and may not be able to conduct the lesson. In this situation, a cover teacher will be provided. This will occur relatively rarely.

Classroom rules

1. Respect one another. Do not use gestures or language that is inappropriate or offensive.

2. Before joining the lesson, find a quiet place at home to avoid distractions and distracting others. Try not to talk over your teacher or other students during the lessons.

3. Try to be on time. Do not join the class halfway through the lesson. You will not benefit and will stop others from benefiting.

4. Be careful when making friends in your virtual classroom; just because someone is a student like you, it doesn’t mean that they can’t take advantage of you. Make friends wisely and stay safe!
